The Book of Acts ends with Paul’s arrival in Jerusalem. The Brothers and sisters are clearly very pleased to be able to finally welcome him to the city at the heart of the Roman Empire.
Upon his arrival, Paul goes to see the Jewish leaders so that he can explain why he has been brought to the city. They are very keen to hear what it is exactly, that Paul preaches that has caused so much upset in Jerusalem and in the Empire! And so for one final time Paul addresses the Jewish community and explains the Gospel to them.
Q What are some of the most common reasons you have encountered for why people reject Christianity?
Q Read v16-22. How does Paul explain to the Jews the reason for why he is in chains? What do they know about Paul and about the Christian sect that he represents?
Q Read v23-24. Who gathers to hear Paul? What are the topics he talks to them about, and why?
Q Read v24-28. What is the response of the crowd? How does Paul explain the reason for their unbelief? What does Paul say will be the result of their unbelief (v28)?
Q Read v30-31. Who does Paul welcome? In what ways does this ending encourage us to be the next chapter of the Acts of Jesus Christ through his disciples?
