          …radical disciples of Jesus;

The word radical comes from the Latin word for root and our roots are in a living relationship with Jesus in which we put him first, take up the cross and follow him (Luke 9.23). This involves us seeing ourselves as Christ’s ambassadors in every situation we face (2 Corinthians 5:21), which means that every one of us are on mission for him.

         ... committed to one another;

We are a community of God’s people and as such we must work together for his Kingdom and build one another up so that we can be effective in spreading the Good news. This will involve us caring for one another’s needs, knowing our gifts and putting them to use.

         ... and by focussing on reaching our community and the world for Christ.

We are not here for our own sake but to glorify God through his Son. And we have been given a mandate to ‘go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything [Christ has] commanded [us]’ (Matthew 28:19-20).
